Apropos volcanoes erupting. My colleague Marion has discovered some really amazing pictures of Chaiten volcano which is erupting at thje moment. Chaiten is in the south of Chile, so it's not even remotely near Africa, but the pictures are worth seeing. If the Goma volcanoes can produce anything like these fireworks then I'm taking a holiday from work and dusting off my camera....
