Nyungwe Forest Park (first batch of photos)

Tea estate at Gacerenda; crummy photo but snatched from the window of a moving matata!
If you go down in the woods today.....

Nyungwe extends like this for mile after mile after mile

Waves of forested hills receded into the distance as far as the eye can see

It looks like something from the Amazon, but this forest is cold and very wet

There are some lovely glades (but no paths into them)

Antonia, Moira, Anne-Miek, Cathie and Mans

The elephant swamp. According to the Rwandans elephants used to get trapped and drown here. It's absolutely huge and very, very deep!
