The new Kigali rises, modern, brash and affluent
High density housing in Kigali. Not a slum by any means, but not many amenities, either!
Laying our flowers on one of the mass graves at the genocide memorial in Kigali. One of the graves has been left open so that coffins are visible; this is deliberate so as to confound anyone in the futur who tries to deny the events happened. We thought it fitting that our flowers should be put on the grave by Epihanie who is half Rwandan, half Canadian, and Tiga who has both Jewish and Armenian ancestry.
Front of Hotel
"Milles Collines", the site of the "Hotel Rwanda" story. It felt surreal to be sitting by the pool at the rear, drinking fanta, and reading about the horros that happened around here onky fourteen years ago.
Slogging away at Kinya-rwanda. L to R Kersti, Tiga, Soraya, Epiphanie and Marisa
